This causes difficulty quitting smoking
This causes difficulty quitting smoking - Try to ask people who have successfully quit smoking, they would answer, that quitting smoking is a hard thing done. American Cancer Society, researchers from the U.S., said that about 70% of smokers who want to quit smoking, but only 40% survive alone. They are 40% done in earnest. So thats why the rest of his bus failed? Even very difficult to do so?
The answer is very simple, the effect of nicotine. How nicotine can make people can not stop smoking is due to nicotine dependence smokers can make, especially on the physical one. And nicotine can also make smokers who are addicted feel unpleasant in many ways. So, it would hinder a person to quit smoking.
For prospective smokers who want to quit smoking, they should be ready to face the addiction to nicotine in his body. Nicotine works by interfering with the communication between nerve cells. It makes a person feel relaxed, calm, and will make smoking more addictive.
With more and more frequent smoking, ones body will adapt and tolerant to nicotine. To get the same effect with the felt first, one must increase the amount of nicotine and smoking them. By doing so, sooner or later someone will become addicted to cigarettes and nicotine.
This addiction can not be easily removed. When someone decides to quit smoking, their body will react like a cold sweat, impatience, anxiety, depression, headaches, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, increased heart rate, and others.
This unpleasant reactions often make many people give up and return to smoking. Not only that, quitting smoking also make people gain weight. Many people who do not want to put on weight, so they are reluctant to quit smoking, as reported by Everyday Health.
The things above are derived from nicotine addiction and the effects of the loss of nicotine in the body, which makes a person very difficult to quit smoking. If you have a round embroidery to quit smoking, it was passionate and do not easily give up. Because when something is done in earnest, it will get the results you are proud.
The above reaction will occur only at the moment when you stop smoking. When you get through, you have successfully quit smoking, and not be addicted again forever.

Unproven H7N9 spread by human
A recent study to be the first to make sure that the scarce H7N9 bird flu virus transmitted from birds to humans. However, this study found no evidence of transmission from human to human.
In this study, researchers tested samples from 20 chickens, five doves, and 57 ducks at six farms in China, where the patient contracted the bird flu. Two of the five pigeons and chickens known to four of the 20 tested positive for H7N9. Researchers then looked at viruses in humans and find similarities. This proves that birds can indeed transmit H7N9 to humans.
Researchers also traced the 385 family members, friends, and staff kesehatan.Tak none of them showed any signs of H7N9 infection after undergoing testing for 14 days. Researchers found evidence that H7N9 could evolve to adapt to the mammalian body. Yet until now there has been no evidence that this virus can spread from human to human.
"In general, the evidence suggests pure transmission between poultry to humans. There is no evidence the virus is transmitted from humans," said Kwok-Yung Yuen, from the University of Hong Kong, as reported by U.S. News.
The current H7N9 virus has killed up to 22 people and infected more than 100 people. Not only that, the first victim outside China, namely Taiwan also have tested positive for H7N9 bird flu virus.

Sedentary behavior linked to recurrence of precancerous colorectal tumors
Men who spend the most time engaged in sedentary behaviors are at greatest risk for recurrence of colorectal adenomas, benign tumors that are known precursors of colorectal cancers, according to results presented here at the 12th Annual AACR International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research, held Oct. 27-30.
The majority of colorectal cancers arise from precursors called colorectal adenomatous polyps, or colorectal adenomas, which can be removed during a colonoscopy. Although there is extensive evidence supporting an association between higher overall levels of physical activity and reduced risk of colorectal cancer, few studies have focused on the impact of sedentary behavior on colorectal cancer risk.
"Sedentary behavior is emerging as a risk factor for poor health," said Christine L. Sardo Molmenti, PhD, MPH, postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Epidemiology at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York. "Even among those who fulfill daily recommendations for physical activity, lengthy periods of sedentary behavior have been associated with early morbidity and mortality, leading to the active couch potato paradigm.
"To our knowledge, this study is the first to specifically investigate the association between sedentary behavior and recurrence of colorectal adenomas. Given the substantial increase in risk of colorectal adenoma recurrence (45%) we observed for men with the highest sedentary time, we believe it would be beneficial to see reduce prolonged sitting time added to the list of public health recommendations currently in place for health promotion and disease prevention."
Sardo Molmenti and colleagues performed a pooled analysis of participants of two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase III clinical trials conducted at the University of Arizona Cancer Center in Tucson and the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health: The Wheat Bran Fiber Study and the Ursodeoxycholic Acid Trial.
All participants in the trials had one or more colorectal adenomas removed during a colonoscopy conducted in the six months prior to their trial enrollment. Among the participants were 1,730 who had completed a self-administered questionnaire that included questions about leisure, recreational, household, and other categories of activity at enrollment, and had undergone a follow-up colonoscopy.
When the researchers analyzed all the data together, they found no association between activity type and colorectal adenoma recurrence. However, when they examined the data for men and women separately, they found that men who reported spending more than 11.38 hours a day engaged in sedentary behaviors, such as writing, typing or working on a computer, and reading, were 45 percent more likely to experience colorectal adenoma recurrence compared with men who spent fewer than 6.90 sedentary hours a day. No association between sedentary time and colorectal adenoma recurrence was observed for women.
Further analysis showed that men who reported high levels of sedentary behaviors and low levels of participation in recreational activities such as walking, jogging, and playing golf, were 41 percent more likely to experience colorectal adenoma recurrence compared with men who reported low levels of both sedentary behaviors and recreational activity. According to Sardo Molmenti, this confirms that sedentary behavior appears to independently contribute to increased cancer risk beyond the accompanying reduction in physical activity.
The researchers plan to conduct further studies to determine more clearly the role of sedentary behavior in cancer risk. According to Sardo Molmenti, new tools and methods are needed to better classify and quantify sedentary behaviors.

New Questionable Trend for Diabetes Prevention in Children
As overweight and obesity become more prevalent among children, increasing their risk for diabetes, doctors are turning to medications for help. One drug theyre turning to is Adderall, approved for the treatment of ADHD (attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder), but not for weight loss.ADHD Drug Use For Youth Obesity Raises Ethical Questions
Adderalls active ingredients include dextroamphetamine and other amphetamine salts. Amphetamines are stimulants. They increase alertness, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration. They also decrease appetite, a side effect thats being capitalized upon for weight loss.
Although the practice of prescribing Adderall "off label" for weight loss is legal, it doesnt address one of the cornerstones of diabetes prevention: behavior modification. The establishment of healthy eating and exercise behaviors is vital in both preventing diabetes, and managing it once a diagnosis is made.
The FDA has a fact sheet and news page devoted to Adderall:

Byetta Under More Scrutiny After Deaths
The injectable diabetes drug exenatide (marketed as Byetta, by Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly) was launched in 2005.In 2007, the FDA issued an alert warning of a possible association between Byetta and acute pancreatitis, after 30 reports of the condition surfaced. Pursuant to that warning:
"FDA has asked and the maker of Byetta, Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has agreed to include information about acute pancreatitis in the PRECAUTIONS section of the product label." 1That was in October of last year. This August, the FDA said they received 6 more reports of "hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis in patients taking Byetta." Two of those patients died. (The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Amylin and Eli Lilly told the FDA of 4 additional deaths.)
Pursuant to those reports:
"FDA is working with the maker of Byetta, Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., to add stronger and more prominent warnings in the product label about the risk of acute hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis." 1The FDA is strongly advising that patients stop taking Byetta immediately if they develop signs or symptoms of acute pancreatitis.
The NIDDK (National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases) lists the following symptoms for acute pancreatitis:
- Symptoms can arise suddenly
- Pain in the upper abdomen, may be severe or begin as mild discomfort that worsens after eating
- Pain may radiate to the back and other areas
- Abdomen may swell and become tender
- Pain may be associated with nausea and vomiting
- Fever
- Rapid pulse
- Breathing problems

Veggie Might UNCLE! You Win Fried Chicken
Penned by the effervescent Leigh, Veggie Might is a weekly Thursday column about the wide world of Vegetarianism.
Y’all, it’s been a crazy week. Kris and I had our names in proverbial lights, and I had a crisis of faith like none I could have ever expected. After reading all your amazing comments from last week’s VM column, I realized something that I thought I’d long suppressed.
I miss fried chicken.
As long-time readers have gleaned, I come from a Midwestern mom and a Southern dad and lived equally in both places before moving to the Big City. Family lore goes, the first thing my dad taught my mom to cook after they married was Great-Grandma Fisher’s Southern fried chicken. Sunday after church, Mom would fry up a batch of flour-dredged goodness with sides of rice and gravy, green beans, and corn—in the summer, the veggies were fresh from a neighbor’s garden.

Let me reassure you that I didn’t abandon all my values over the weekend. My move to the move to meat was going to be the right way. Sonny, my local butcher, was sure surprised to see me darken his door on Saturday. I pass his shop every day while walking my dog, and we always wave and exchange pleasantries, but in 14 years, I’ve never been in his shop.
I took a deep breath and asked Sonny for a locally and humanely raised chicken. The smell of freshly cut steaks and chops filled my nostrils. I was transported back to my youth, shopping at Farmer Brown’s with my mother and siblings. Sonny was thrilled to oblige my request and asked about my dog, who he calls Pee-Wee, though that’s not his name.
There, on the spot, emboldened by adventure, I asked Sonny if he had any pork skin he could sell me. I remembered my dad talking about a Paula Deen episode in which she made her own pork rinds, and I figured I’d make my own too. He wrapped up a couple of pounds along with my two-pound fryer.
Back home with my quarry, I set to making my nostalgic dreams come true. This quest called for a spirit guide, so I called my dad. He was so happy to hear I was coming back to the omni fold I thought he might cry, even if I wasn’t planning to make Grandma Fisher’s recipe exactly.
Years ago, during the height of the Atkins diet craze, I read about Pork-Rind-Coated Fried Chicken. The recipe made the rounds on the Weight Watchers’ vegetarian messageboards, and we all had a good laugh about the “healthiness” of dredging chicken in egg and fried pig skins before a dunk in boiling oil.
Well, healthy or not, it’s unbelievably delicious and the perfect recipe to bring myself out of vegetarianism—or meat retirement as I’ve started calling it.
My Charming Dinner Guest was surprised to smell fried chicken coming from my apartment when he arrived for dinner, but happily joined me for heaping plates of pork-rind fried chicken with all the Angel family sides.
My apartment smelled just like I the Sundays I remember. Biting into the crunchy skin (still the best part!), I let the juice run down my chin—just once—before I grabbed a napkin. The deep-fried experience was everything I dreamed it would be, and, I dare say, it was worth giving up 19 years of vegetarianism for the pleasure.
You win, fried chicken.
Pork Rind Crusted Fried Chicken
Serves 4
Note: My picture wasnt the greatest, so this is provided by Ms. Paula Deen herself.

2 lb fryer chicken, cut into pieces
2 cups pork rinds
2–3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 cups vegetable oil
1) Rinse and pat dry chicken pieces.
2) Beat eggs in a wide, shallow bowl. Crush pork rinds and spread on a baking sheet or large platter.
3) Dip each chicken piece in egg and dredge through pork rinds until completely coated. Set aside until all pieces are coated.
4) Heat oil in a large cast iron skillet.
5) Carefully lower a few chicken pieces into hot oil. On each side, cover and cook over medium high heat for 5–7 minutes, then remove the lid and cook for 10 minutes. When both sides are cooked, give each side another 2–3 minutes to brown the crust. Repeat until all the chicken is cooked.
6) Drain excess oil on paper towels.
7) Make gravy with the drippings and serve with rice, green beans, corn, and, for dessert, a big ol’ Southern-fried APRIL FOOL! Mmmwah!

Chinas bird flu virus is still a mystery
Chinas bird flu virus is still a mystery - Nearly three weeks after China reported the discovery of a new strain of bird flu in humans. However, experts are still baffled by the medical explanation of how a person can be infected when she was not at all in contact with live poultry and the virus should not be spread from human to human.
Uncertainty is challenging the Chinese government to control the spread of H7N9 avian flu virus that has killed 17 people and 66 infections in the country, most of whom live along the eastern seaboard.
"For me, the biggest question is the relationship between the virus in birds and how to get to the man.s Not clear," said Dr. Bai Chunxue, a leading respiratory experts in Shanghai who treat patients infected with the bird flu virus.
Bai, as reported thenews.com.pk (18/4), was researching a family infected with bird flu virus, which is comprised of a 87 year old man and his two sons. Surprisingly, all three patients had no contact with birds or poultry.
In a telephone interview, Bai claimed that this case is still a mystery to scientists the world. To understand how the H7N9 avian flu virus could spread without any contact with poultry, and Chinas international experts in collaboration with the World Health Organization conducted an investigation since last Friday (19/4).
Helen Yu, a spokesman for the World Health Organization in China, said that experts from various countries began arriving on Thursday (18/4), to visit laboratories and disaster areas in Beijing and Shanghai.
China announced the first known case on March 31, which immediately sparked concern among experts around the world because it is the first time the H7N9 strain of bird flu human infection. They fear the virus mutation and can spread from human to human.

The Top 10 Signs You’re Becoming a Better Cook Plus Easy Chicken Pan Gravy
You guys? I was making Easy Chicken Pan Gravy last week when something hit me. Over the years, Ive become a pretty decent cook. Not a good cook, per se, but a decent one. Im fairly confident no one will die / vomit / write heartbreaking soliloquies after they eat my food.
Upon the realization, I started brainstorming some benchmarks - noticeable and definitive signs that youve come a long way, culinarily speaking. Heres what I came up with:
Also, this gravy is good and you should eat it.

Mmm … sauce. If this looks all nice and stuff, you will surely enjoy:
Easy Chicken Pan Gravy (With Chicken)
Serves 4

16 ounces boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced into thin (1/2-inch or so) filets
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 (15-ounce) can low-sodium chicken broth
1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1) Pat chicken dry and season one side liberally with salt and pepper. Pour half can of chicken broth into measuring cup and whisk flour in thoroughly. (There should be no lumps.) Keep other half in the can and set aside.
2) In a large pan, heat oil over high heat. With tongs, carefully place chicken seasoned-side down in pan. Cook until browned, about 3 to 6 minutes. While cooking, season exposed side with salt and pepper. Flip, and cook another 3 to 6 minutes, until second side is browned. Remove to a plate and keep warm. (Tent with tin foil, if you like.)
3) Pour broth in can into hot pan, scraping up browned bits with wooden spoon. Cook on high until broth is reduced by about half.
4) Give the flour/broth mixture one more quick whisk, and pour into pan, stirring constantly. Reduce heat a little, to medium or medium-high. Cook, stirring often, until sauce is thick and gravy-like. This could take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, so keep an eye on it.
5) When gravy hits the desired consistency, season with salt and pepper. If necessary (i.e. lumps), strain into your fancy serving vessel (measuring glass, gravy bowl, etc.). Otherwise, just pour it in. Then, dollop over chicken and/or potatoes and serve.

Upon the realization, I started brainstorming some benchmarks - noticeable and definitive signs that youve come a long way, culinarily speaking. Heres what I came up with:
- You eyeball ingredient measurements.
- You substitute ably and with abandon.
- You regularly improve on recipes written by professionals.
- You search for physical indications (browning, thickness, scent, etc.) that a recipe is done, rather than use times.
- You have an ever-expanding repertoire of dishes you know by heart, and can easily go a week without consulting a recipe.
- You bring lunch to work not because you want to save money or watch your waistline, but because your leftovers are fantastic.
- You don’t choose certain restaurant dishes because you can make it just as well – or even better – by yourself at home.
- Your pickiest friend will eat your food without complaint.
- Your foodie-est friend will eat your food with glee.
- Your parents entrust you with Thanksgiving.
Also, this gravy is good and you should eat it.

Alcohol consumption lowers the risk of several types of cancer
Many observational epidemiologic studies have found an inverse association between alcohol consumption and hematological cancers (such as lymphoma and leukemia)... The key findings are that alcohol consumption appears to lower the risk of several types of lymphoma and plasma cell neoplasms, but has little effect on the risk of myeloid tumours such as acute myeloid leukaemia.

Resveratrol Could Be Key to Fighting Prostate Cancer
Resveratrol, a compound found commonly in grape skins and red wine, has been shown to have several beneficial effects on human health, including cardiovascular health and stroke prevention. Now, a University of Missouri researcher has discovered that the compound can make prostate tumor cells more susceptible to radiation treatment, increasing the chances of a full recovery from all types of prostate cancer, including aggressive tumors.

Im going to take grape seed extract on my next cruise:
Grape Seed Extract Bollixes Norovirus
Norovirus causes more than half of all food-born illnesses in the United States. A recent study found that grape seed extract could reduce the infectivity of Norovirus surrogates (Norovirus surrogates are viruses that share pathological and/or biological features with human norovirus).
A friend and reader of my health reports is worried about contracting prostate cancer and asked what diet would be best to fight off prostate cancer. Here are the research reports I looked at in this regard:

Im glad I take a statin:
Statins Tied To Reduced Cancer Deaths
A new study from Denmark found that people who regularly used statins to lower cholesterol and then received a cancer diagnosis were 15% less likely to die from cancer or any other cause than cancer patients who had never used statins.
Im glad I have no visible signs of aging (not these anyhow):
Telltale visible signs of aging may predict heart disease
In a new study, those who had three to four aging signs — receding hairline at the temples, baldness at the head’s crown, earlobe crease, or yellow fatty deposits around the eyelid (xanthelasmata) — had a 57 percent increased risk for heart attack and a 39 percent increased risk for heart disease .
Im glad I get quite a bit of exercise and wish I could get even more:
Physical activity and gain in life expectancy
For those who did the equivalent to 150 min of brisk walking per week--the basic amount of physical activity currently recommended by the federal government--the gain in life expectancy was 3.4 years. These benefits were seen in both men and women, and among white and black participants. Importantly, they were also observed among persons who were normal weight, overweight, and obese. Participants faring best were those who were both normal weight and active: among normal weight persons who were active at the level recommended by the federal government, researchers observed a gain in life expectancy of 7.2 years.

Emerging evidence suggests many pregnant women are deficient in omega-3
Low levels of omega-3 may be behind postpartum depression, according to a review lead by Gabriel Shapiro of the University of Montreal and the Research Centre at the Sainte-Justine Mother and Child Hospital. Women are at the highest risk of depression during their childbearing years, and the birth of a child may trigger a depressive episode in vulnerable women. Postpartum depression is associated with diminished maternal health as well as developmental and health problems for her child.

Recipe Orange Peel Pork Roast and How to Season a Roast
Ive been really into making roasts lately, whether its beef or pork. Theyre great because its an easy way to feed a group of people, or if its just you then save the leftovers! Having leftovers is always good, as it saves you a ton of time over the next few days, and you can have a healthy meal ready in just a few minutes. I just thought of this recipe the other day after buying a bag of oranges, and I was so impressed with how it came out. Its pure deliciousness, you absolutely must try it! And BONUS: You get to eat the orange while its cooking.
So here are the ingredients, sans the pork roast, which youll see below. I like to avoid grocery store meat as much as possible and shop at a local farm, like JT Farms in Ellington. But if I see a Stop & Shop roast on sale like I did today for $2.99 a pound (!?!?!?), I give in and buy it. Hey Im still in school after all... Im not made of money.

Prep time: 5-10 minutes
Cook time: Varies depending on size and type of roast. This was a 2.2 lb loin roast and it took about 1 hour 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Heres a nice little chart for you :)
Seasoning a Roast
Basically the only preparation you need to do is to season the pork. For years, I avoided buying roasts like this because I didnt know how to season it. Dont let that be you. Its so easy and fun to season a roast; you have a lot of freedom and you pretty much cant screw it up. Heres what I used...
Looks gross right? Well thats because I screwed up and didnt include the orange peel in the picture (long story). And it sorta inherently looks like poop. No big. Just wait til you slather it on the roast, itll look great. I didnt measure any of the quantities, I never do. I just go by feel. As a general rule though, I use a lot of herbs in relation to the other ingredients since they have a mild flavor compared to everything else.
And another tip... when cooking a roast like this you should really use fresh herbs. The water content of the fresh herbs helps keep the roast juicy, plus they have more flavor. If youre making something with a lot of water, like rice or soup, dried herbs are more acceptable. But screw it, dried is all I had.
IMPORTANT! If youre going to cook meat on a regular basis, you NEED a thermometer! Undercooking can obviously get you sick, but overcooking meat will make it stiff and dry. You want soft and moist! For pork, the meat needs to be at least 145 degrees, and the closer you can get to that number, the juicier it will be. I normally try to catch it just below 140; it continues to cook for a few minutes even after being taken out of the oven, so youll probably hit 145 anyway.
Thats it! If youve done it right, you have a juicy, delicious roast to share with family or friends, or to hoard for yourself for days to come. Happy cooking!

Fertility Yoga Yoga for Women Who Want to Get Pregnant
Fertility Yoga, Yoga for Women Who Want to Get Pregnant - Practice meditation and breathing exercises of Indian origin has long been known benefits in improving flexibility and core body strength. However, a yoga instructor from Florida, the U.S. believe that yoga can also help a woman to get pregnant. How so?
Sherry Longbottom, a registered nurse and yoga instructor to develop the so-called fertility fertility yoga or yoga.
The whole point of yoga is to avoid fertility yoga poses that can overload the body, so the more Longbottom taught yoga poses are simple but can help relieve anxiety, especially for women who are undergoing certain fertility treatments.
Although the fertility benefits of yoga practice is not as big as in vitro fertilization or IVF procedures or hormone therapy, but Longbottom said if yoga can help women who want to conceive by encouraging them to be relaxed and calm because thats what it takes to make the process run smoothly fertilization. Yoga is also claimed to be the blood flow to the pelvic area.
"Moreover, we are often approached by stress, and such conditions will certainly hinder our effort to create a neighborhood or a lush body," said Longbottom.
Many women who take yoga classes are tutored by this Longbottom after being recommended by the Reproductive Medicine Group in Tampa, Florida to help them cope with the stress of not getting pregnant or undergoing stress due to fertility treatments.
Longbottom can estimate if half of her yoga class participants were undergoing a fertility treatment.
"Yoga is not able to fix the problems in the uterus or the egg. But they can do is to help a person to undergo the process," said Dr. Betsy McCormick of Reproductive Medicine Group as reported by ABCNews.
Dr.. James Goldfarb, director of the division of infertility and in-vitro fertilization at the University Hospital Cleveland also allow patients to try alternative therapies such as yoga or acupuncture, as far as the patient feels better after a training session.
"I always tell patients that this method would not be so painful and we strongly encourage them to try any treatment that if it can relieve stress," he said.
The problem, though fertility treatments such as IVF has helped millions of women to get pregnant, Goldfarb admitted if at the same time, these women also experienced tremendous anxiety.
Various studies also confirm if women undergoing fertility programs such as IVF are more likely to develop stress and depression.

How Can Care Management Programs Manage Physician Incentives
| One ingredient for physician cooperation? |
It listened politely to its colleagues input. After a careful review of all the issues, risks, benefits and alternatives, the physician-DMCB decided to compromise by paying the docs to sign-off on the care plans.
Drs. Nikola Biller-Andorno and Thomas H. Lee, writing in the March 14 New England Journal, point out that that physician enticements are far more complicated than shekels for signatures. They think economic incentives in health care are a complex mix of "traditional," (social status) "self-interest, (one example is money) "affective" (being appreciated) and "shared purpose" (for the greater good) motives. They also suggest that they are unavoidable.
A nurse care management administrator might as well join em rather than fight em.
Armed with that insight, its easier to contrast the underlying cultures of a non-for-profit community health center versus a for-profit hospital chain. Its also easier to understand that performance measures can not only appeal to self-interest (as in pay for performance) but to the "affective" reward of being given an excellent rating by a community of colleagues. The authors also point out that a sense of shared purpose cannot be underestimated, since it speaks to the "core principles of the medical profession."
The DMCBs insight here is that there is no single incentive "lever" that can change physician behavior. Rather, the best approach to incentives is to capitalize on all four incentive domains. Whats more, if "shared purpose" is undervalued, physicians are more likely to feel dissed and ignore the best laid incentive plan.
It turns out paying the docs was the right thing to do as well as appealing to their sense of shared purpose. What the DMCB and nurse administrator should have done was to also look for some way to leverage the other domains of social status (perhaps a recognition program) and being appreciated (asking a lead physician to express appreciation for the extra work.

Role of physical activity in the treatment of obesity

For example, the active life and sports coincide with lower weight, but not the sedentary alone the cause of obesity cases . Whats more, most sports like weightlifting or is accompanied by a significant increase in weight and bulk.
However, as a general rule, people , athletes look more dynamic and active than thin and sedentary .
- Physical activity as a therapeutic instrument faces , should not be taken in isolation. Should be related to two other elements :
The actual weight of the person .
The food you make.
Let us focus on physical activity , obesity as a tool , as a slimming item meets an attractive triple therapy :
Prevents the diet a single treatment center .
Decreases pressure and psychological control over eating . ( reduces obsessive behaviors )
Prevents or reduces the development of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, regardless of weight reducing diseases .
Is also an element of consolidation of weight decrease in the long-term prospects .
- Components of physical activity :
Sharp component : is the sports session itself , directly linked to the quality, duration and intensity is 1 single or isolated session or the full amount of a training program . The sharp component , wastes energy proportionally to the effort , but does not produce qualitative changes in the functioning of the body .
Chronic Component: if acute physical activity is repeated periodically with 1 regular and adequate intensity , the training effect is achieved . Through this body gets ( though not permanent ) lasting adaptive changes in the proportions of muscle and fat in the distribution of these characteristics and functioning. The chronic effect of exercise produces beneficial conservation and protection of muscle mass , in addition to aerobic exercise , muscle quality achieved favorably modifies the metabolism of the arteries , creating conditions that prevent the development of atherosclerosis . Hormonal changes induced by exercise especially correct metabolic abnormalities that accompany those obesities , in which fat is deposited primarily in the upper half of the body .
The most recommended exercises are long-lasting and continuous , rhythmic movements . Its effective implementation is achieved if the person attains a degree of aerobic training. The most effective are those in which the person must carry the weight on his legs , hence the walks , idle, or jogging are the most desirable , we must also consider cycling , swimming, tennis.
Its action on the weight is not as fast as the diets in the short term . Their results are visible in the long term , but no less spectacular .
Your practice must be supervised or guided by professionals to minimize risk.
I hope you will be helpful , comment and suggest . And do not forget to share !

Improve vision function with Chocolate
Improve vision function with Chocolate | Driving a vehicle for long trips, such as going home now requires excellent visual function. There is a quick way to improve the quality of vision, which is eating chocolate.
Research suggests dark chocolate can improve visual acuity in low contrast conditions. See other chocolate benefit.

In a British study of vision of the respondents note increased 17 percent in terms of contrasting light conditions after they consume compared with the dark chocolate and white chocolate. The study participants also have the brain function better in the test results.
The content of flavonoids in dark chocolate is known to increase blood circulation in the body, including to the eye. "The retina requires a lot of energy but often lack of blood supply. Flavonoids in chocolate will enhance the function of peripheral blood vessels into the eye so that the visual function was better," said David Field, professor at the University of Reading, UK, who conducted this research.
Field and his team tested the participants two hours after they mengasup dark chocolate bars. But he said the actual effects of flavonoids could be felt an hour after consumption.
Regarding the amount of chocolate that have not been convinced diasup Field. In his research he uses chocolate bar contains 773 milligrams of cocoa flavonoids. Unfortunately most manufacturers do not list the amount of cocoa flavonoids in the packaging.
Besides chocolate, actually flavonoids can be found in tea, fruits and vegetables. However, according to the Field is not known whether the effect will be the same as the flavonoids in chocolate.

Besides chocolate, actually flavonoids can be found in tea, fruits and vegetables. However, according to the Field is not known whether the effect will be the same as the flavonoids in chocolate.
Elliott Hulse The Meaning of Strength

Elliotts videos have had a profound impact on my thoughts and my experiences. Id like to just talk about a few of my favorites and why theyve meant so much to me. Hopefully, through sharing how theyve affected me, I can pass this information on to others and broaden their horizons as well.
The Power of Silence
This may be the one that resonated with me the most. (My friend Sarah featured it on her blog recently.) It didnt have the greatest impact on me because I already understood the concepts, but I feel it could have the greatest impact with you. It did confirm what I was feeling though, and the way Elliott puts it all to words is just perfect. I had just come back from an overnight trip to the peak of Killington, a mountain in Vermont. I went alone and experienced the power of silence for myself. Theres no feeling like being absolutely alone on the top of a 4000-foot mountain at sunset... no one to take care of you, no one to save you from falling off the edge... no one for miles. Only you.
Elliott says it best in this video: "When you no longer have everyone speaking into you, you have no choice but to speak to yourself. And you might find some crazy shit down there." When you go within, youre forced to deal with the cobwebs. "If you dont go within, then you will go without. You will go without joy, you will go without peace, you will go without pleasure. Because all those things are found when we deal with whats inside." In a society like our modern one with cell phones, computers, TVs, people everywhere... we dont often get an opportunity for silence unless we actively seek it. But without it, there is no real peace.
Dont Be Nice.
Elliott discusses the difference between niceness and kindness. Being nice is "something we do, regardless of who were being". Kindness, however, is who we are. Kindness is who we are to the core. We can be nice regardless of who we are. This is something we tell our kids to do when they act out in public... we say "be nice", and they put on a good show to appease us. But in reality, the core of their being is not in that "niceness"; it lies in running amok like every kid wants to.
The reason were nice is to appease the norms of society. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said (and I first heard this quote from Elliott, no surprise), "Every action is measured by the depth of the sentiment from which it proceeds." Being nice isnt necessarily rooted in a sentiment of kindness, in fact it often isnt. Niceness has a time and place, but striving to be kind is a much more worthy endeavor.
How To Get Your Girlfriend Back
Dont let the title confuse you; the issues in this video go far beyond just getting a girlfriend back. In this video, Elliott talks about the penis and the vagina as metaphors for how we behave as men or women. "Women are like vaginas in their behavior, and men are like penises in their behavior." A woman brings in, while a man goes out. Women are stimulated by their environment... the area around them that they can bring in... which is why they are more likely to decorate. Men dont decorate, because we dont value our immediate environment. Just as a penis, in sexual terms, reaches out toward the woman, men reach out in life. Men dont require a stimulating living environment because our nature is to go out and insert ourselves into an environment.
Most interesting to me in all this is how this manifests itself in attraction between men and women. As a man, according to this theory, I should be attracted to a woman who brings in... in other words, Im attracted to a woman who can soften and let me in physically and emotionally, who takes care of her environment, who cares for herself and those around her. And it turns out, this is exactly what Im attracted to. I cant even tell you how accurate this idea applies to my life and what I see in other peoples lives. And of course, having a serious conversation in which you make the statement, "Shes a little penis", always lightens the mood.
I cant tell for sure if Elliotts channel has shaped my growth, or if Ive kept watching because my it so closely parallels my inner evolution. Either way, the information hes putting out is incredible stuff. As Elliott would say, "these are just ideas". But as I would say... what else is there??
Regular drinking before first pregnancy increases breast cancer risk
Heres a sobering fact for millions of young women heading back to school: The more alcohol they drink before motherhood, the greater their risk of future breast cancer.
Thats according to new research from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis that, for the first time, links increased breast cancer risk to drinking between early adolescence and first full-term pregnancy. Previous studies have looked at breast cancer risk and alcohol consumption later in life or at the effect of adolescent drinking on noncancerous breast disease.
“More and more heavy drinking is occurring on college campuses and during adolescence, and not enough people are considering future risk. But, according to our research, the lesson is clear: If a female averages a drink per day between her first period and her first full-term pregnancy, she increases her risk of breast cancer by 13 percent,” said co-author Graham Colditz, MD, DrPH, associate director for cancer prevention and control at Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.
The study is published online Aug. 28 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
Colditz also is the Niess-Gain Professor of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He worked on the study with first author Ying Liu, MD, PhD, a School of Medicine instructor in the Division of Public Health Sciences, and colleagues from Brigham and Womens Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard School of Public Health.
The researchers also found that for every bottle of beer, glass of wine or shot of liquor consumed daily, a young woman increases her risk of proliferative benign breast disease by 15 percent. Although such lesions are noncancerous, their presence increases breast cancer risk by as much as 500 percent, Liu said.
"Parents should educate their daughters about the link between drinking and risk of breast cancer and breast disease," she said. "Thats very important because this time period is very critical."
The findings are based on a review of the health histories of 91,005 mothers enrolled in the Nurses Health Study II from 1989 to 2009. Colditz was key to the development and administration of that and similar studies that track disease risk in female nurses.
Colditz and Liu didnt consider the effects of adolescent and early adulthood drinking on women who didnt have a full-term pregnancy because not enough were represented among those studied, Liu said.
Breast tissue cells are particularly susceptible to cancer-causing substances as they undergo rapid proliferation during adolescence and later. Adding to the risk is the lengthening time frame between the average age of a girls first menstrual cycle and the average age of a womans first full-term pregnancy. Colditz doesnt foresee any shortening of that, which is why young women should drink less, he said – to lower average daily consumption and, therefore, risk.
"Reducing drinking to less than one drink per day, especially during this time period, is a key strategy to reducing lifetime risk of breast cancer," he said.
Colditz said the findings call for more research into what young women can do to counteract alcohols adverse effects if they choose to drink. Past studies that didnt consider alcohol use suggest that eating more fiber and exercising more lowers cancer risk for everyone.
Low Fat Apple Coffee Cake Get in My Mouth Right Now
Today on Serious Eats: All-American Chili. Wonderfully autumn-y, and even better the next day.
As a New Yorker, I like to think that October is our reward for making it through August.
If you’ve ever been here in late summer, you know that the humidity, stench, and collective bad mood make our eighth month a special kind of hell. Yet, less than 31 days after it’s over, we’re compensated with weather straight out of a John Irving novel.
In October, the atmospheric moisture all but disappears. The temperatures drop from the high 400s into the über-pleasant upper 60s. The persistent aromas of bus fuel and body odor are replaced by … well, nothing. And let me tell you, Eau de Nothing in New York is about as good as you’re gonna get, except for that time the Jersey chemical factory leaked and the city reeked of maple syrup for two days.
Yeah, that was cool.
Anyway, October also means an entirely new season and style of cooking. Out are raw salads and grilled meats. In come long-simmering stews and cinnamon-spiked quick breads. Zucchini and tomatoes are making way for butternut squash and heavenly-when-cooked-correctly Brussels sprouts. And let’s not forget fall’s finest bounty: bag after bag of regional apples, purchased for a pittance. A pittance! Forsooth, I say!
I recently procured just such a sack of the medium-sized MacIntosh variety, which I find fairly solid for eating, saucing, and all-purpose baking. One by one, I turned them into snacks, applesauce, and Low-Fat Apple Coffee Cake from the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. Which? Will make you drool on your culottes. It’s that good.
Words that describe this cake: warm, moist, sweet, light, fairly low-fat, apple-packed, crunch-esquey, cinnamonilicity, scrumptulescent.
Words that do not describe this cake: gross, stapler, Michael Vick.
Of course, if you should embark on this journey of delectable…ness, there are a few things to know:
1) You’re supposed to coat the baking pan with cooking spray. I ran out, but a thin swipe of Butter-flavored Crisco stood in nicely.
2) I substituted a real egg for egg substitute. Whoa. Meta.
3) As noted, I used MacIntoshes, but other baking apples may elicit even better results. So, experiment! (Except with Red Delicious. They’re pretty useless in cakes like this.)
Welcome, autumn. I could not be happier to eat, er, see you.

Makes 10 servings.
Adapted from Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook.
NOTE: This looks like a lot of ingredients, but it’s not, I promise. A bunch are repeats. No fear!

2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
A few dashes nutmeg
1-1/2 cups small-diced, peeled, cored apples (2 small) (I used MacIntosh)
1/4 cup egg (about 1 large egg)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup chopped walnuts and/or pecans
1/4 cup applesauce (I used homemade)
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon coldish butter, cut up into small cubes
1/4 cup chopped walnuts and/or pecans
1) Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 9-inch round baking pan with either cooking spray or Crisco. Set aside.
2) In a small mixing bowl, combine 2/3 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, baking soda, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg with a whisk. Set aside.
3) In a medium mixing bowl, combine apples and egg. Add sugar, 1/4 cup chopped nuts, and applesauce. Pour in flour mixture. Stir to combine. Pour batter into your pan. It will be thick, but don’t worry. Flatten it out evenly with a spatula.
4) In a separate small bowl, combine brown sugar with remaining all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, and cinnamon. Cut in butter, either with a fork or a pastry blender. It should look like crumbs when you’re done. Stir in remaining nuts. Sprinkle it over your batter.
5) Bake 30 or 35 minutes, or until the cake passes the toothpick test. Remove, let sit in the pan for 10 minutes, and serve to rousing applause. It’s seriously, really good.
